Courage Card

 

I'm sorry that it has been so long since I've posted, but my real job and a short family vacation have cut into my crafting time.

 

Over at the Die-Namites Blog, they are hosting a challenge for July with a sketch and an optional dare to use the color blue.

Spring Flowers and Grapevine Times Two - Wreath and Wreath Card

Are you ready for spring?  In my part of the world, spring hasn't fully arrived and, so, I'm missing the spring flowers that have yet to bloom.  What's a paper crafter to do when feeling melancholy over the lack of flowers - why, create her own of course.  First the wreath:

For this wreath, I used several layers (well about 18) of the  six-petal (heart-shaped) flower cut from Cricut's Flower Shoppe cartridge.  For the center flower, the largest (bottom) layer was cut at 5 inches and the smallest (top) at 1 inch and the layers in between getting progressively smaller from bottom to top.  I dipped each layer in water (try not to get them too wet), crumpled the wet paper into a wad, uncrumpled them while still damp and then stacked them using a brad to hold the layers together. 

After shaping the centers to hide the brad, I let the flowers dry overnight and then used a dry brush and Inka Gold Metallic Rub to gild the edges of the petals .  

Next the card:

For the flowers on the card, I used a rolled flower from the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge cut at 0.9 inches.  Using a quilling tool with  the outer end of the paper inserted into the eye hole, I tightly rolled up the cut until I  reached the center of the flower. Next, I pulled out the quilling tool to release the paper, added quick dry glue to the end piece of the cut that is the bottom of the flower and hold it until the glue dries.

Both these project were created as "sample" inspirations for a challenge I'm leading for the Circleville National Scrapbooking Weekend on the Cricut Circle Message Board.

Love You Card

Here's a Valentine Card on a square base:

To give the sentiment some depth, I glued together three layers of cardstock before running it through on the die the Cuttlebug.

Monkey Card

Here's the first of two cards that I made for an online Cricut Circle Canadian Members all occasion card swap (which was open to US residents as well):

There weren’t many criteria for the swap cards beyond a size requirement [rectangular A2 cards (4.25” x 5.5”) or any shape up to 5.5” x 5.5”] and that we had to make 14 of each of two designs to swap. We did have to advise as to the types of cards we would be making.  This is my “general purpose card” that I said I would create.  It’s blank inside, so I really think it could be used as a Birthday card, a Thank You card, an I Love You card, etc. just by adding the appropriate sentiment to the inside of the card.

The monkey is flocked and mounted on a homemade wobble spring (so the monkey does actually swing a little).

Cat Halloween Card

This is a layout I created for the Cricut Circle Blog’s Blogiversary Sketch Challenge.  The challenge was with to create a project using at least 2 Cricut Cuts based on the sketch to the right.

Here’s my entry.

In the top right corner is a plastic spider that I covered in glue and then sprinkled with glitter.

The cat cut was run through my Xyron and then sprinkled with flocking powder.  The pink nose was hand cut and I added the whiskers next to the nose.  The eyes are a dollar store flower jewel petals, coloured green and black with a Sharpie.

The purple pumpkin was stamped with the sentiment and covered with UTEE.  After it was heated, the stamped sentiment was difficult to read, so I went over it with a black sharpie.

Monochromatic (Brown) Halloween Card

This is a card I created for the Cricut Circle Blog’s Blogiversary Monochromatic Color Challenge.  The challenge was to create a project of your choice using a monochromatic color scheme at least 2 different Cricut cuts.

I stamped the dress with part of an Inkadinkadoo stamp and clear embossed it to add some texture.  I also clear embossed the boots to make them look shiny like leather.

Cricut Circle September Monthly Challenge - Simple Card

The Challenge: Create a project of your choice and include a WINDOW element of some kind! Your project must include at least 2 different Cricut Image Cuts.

Here is my entry:

The A2 sized base card was cut from the Cricut Sophie Cartridge and the window element was cut from the Cricut Inspired Heart Cartridge.  Using Design Studio,  I positioned the window element cut on the base card cut and I hid the outer contour of the window before cutting.  I embossed the base card with  the Cuttlebug D'vine Swirls folder and then inked it with Memento Ink (London Fog). The ribbon is a Celebrate It from Michaels.  While not the visible from in the picture, a strip of black card stock was added to the inside of the card to pop the cut on the edge of the front of the card.
